General Information

Congress language
The congress language is English. No simultaneous translation will be provided.

Letter of Invitation
The congress will be pleased to send a formal letter of invitation to any individual requesting one. It is understood that such an invitation is intended to help potential delegates to raise funds or to obtain a visa. This does not imply a commitment from the congress to provide any financial support. Letters of invitation may be requested from the congress office.

Visa
Please check the current visa requirements with your travel agent or the local British Consulate/Embassy before your departure to London!

Insurance
The congress fee does not include insurance. All participants should arrange for their own insurance. Health and accident insurance is recommended and has to be purchased in your country of origin.

Certificate of Attendance
Upon arrival all registered delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.

Climate
London’s weather changes from cold and damp in winter to  bright and warm in the summer. Whatever the season, the British weather is liable to change from day to day, so be sure to bring layers, a waterproof coat or jacket and an umbrella. In autumn there can be very warm days, but equally there can be very cold ones. Temperatures fluctuate around the 7 to 14°C mark.

Church Services
Almost every religion is represented in London, including Christianity (Protestant, Catholic and other denominations), Judaism and Islam. Please contact your hotel concierge for specific locations and times.

Electricity
Electricity in the United Kingdom is 240-volt current, AC. Converters may be borrowed by contacting the hotel reception. If you see a special 110-volt razor socket in your bathroom, do not use it for anything other than a razor.

Shopping
Shopping hours vary from shop to shop, but in general, stores are open from Monday to Saturday between 09:00 and 18:00. Late-night shopping is available either Wednesdays or Thursdays, depending on the district. Some stores are now open for up to fi ve to six hours on Sundays.

Time Zone
London’s time zone is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and is 5 hours ahead of the US - Eastern Standard time and 1 hour behind most countries of mainland Europe.
