Young Clinicians Programme for GASTRO 2009

The Young Clinicians Programme (YCP) is an initiative that funds 180 trainees to come to GASTRO 2009 to participate in specialised educational programme which commences before the main GASTRO 2009 meeting and continues with additional sessions throughout GASTRO 2009. Half of the programme trainees come from Britain and the other half comes from the rest of the world. YCP officially begins on Wednesday November 18 with dinner and is followed on November 19-20 with an intensive teaching programme that includes cased-based sessions and hands-on training.

Those on the Young Clinicians Programme will be entitled to attend the GASTRO 2009 meeting which runs from November 21 to 25, 2009. The final event for YCP candidates will take place on Wednesday, November 25, 2009. During GASTRO 2009 there will be special mentored sessions to allow the young clinicians to share their experience of the meeting and reflect on what they have learnt.

Successful candidates will be offered the opportunity to spend a few days either prior to the YCP or after GASTRO 2009 at a host training center in the United Kingdom. A selection of leading centers around the country has offered to host YCP participants and to provide transport and accommodation. This is an optional feature and further detail will be provided after the initial selection process has been completed.

The final deadline for submission of candidates to the YCP was November 30, 2008.
